Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs a little brown insects visible to the the naked eye. In fact, even the eggs are visible. At Doug the Bug we spray to control bed bugs and are very successful. Our program takes between 2 to 4 applications with 80% of our customers eliminating bed bugs in 2 application, 15% taking 3 applications, and 5% taking 4. How many visits your home will require simply depends on how many bed bugs are in your house to begin with. For example, if you have 500 bed bugs in your home it will take longer to eliminate them than if you only have 50. While a heat treatment will kill all of your bed bugs in one day, it can be very costly. Our services are effective and affordable but it will take longer to completely eliminate your problem.

How does it work? Once your home is sprayed we need every single bed bug to crawl through the chemical in order for them to die. Once this happens your problem is over! This will take time and requires patience but our expert application means that chemicals are sprayed thoroughly and effectively, so the process happens as quickly as possible.

German Roches

German roaches are small brown roaches with the adults having vertical lines on their backs. The issue with these roaches is the frequency of their reproduction cycle- two roaches turn into 30-40 roaches every 21 days! This means an infestation can become major one pretty quickly. Compare this to the American roach, nicknamed the palmetto bug, which reproduces at a rate of 16-20 every 5 to 7 weeks. The trick to stopping these roaches from reproducing so quickly is to mix a product with your insecticide called an insect growth regulator, somewhat like birth control for insects.

At our Clearwater, FL pest control company we spray and bait to control roaches. This process takes between 2 and 4 applications. The number of treatments you will need depends on how many roaches you have in your home to begin with. Every single roach needs to either crawl through the chemical or eat the bait. So, if your house has only 100 roaches it would take less time and fewer service calls then if your house was infested with 1,000 roaches. Calling a professional sooner than later makes a big difference and ultimately saves you money because we are able to control the infestation with less applications.

Fleas are tiny, wingless insects that jump, feeding on the blood of mammals to survive. The lifecycle of these insects is what makes them so hard to control. Once the adult flea obtains a blood meal it can produce around 20 eggs, usually laid on the host. These slippery eggs can fall off the host spreading throughout your home very easily. The eggs turn into a worm-like larva, which after obtaining a blood meal, can then go into a cocoon called a puppa. Picture a caterpillar turning into a butterfly- the flea in the puppa state is impermeable by the chemical. This means in order to kill the pest we must wait for the puppa to emerge as an adult flea. This process takes 14 days. This is why we will schedule follow-up visits with you at regular intervals.
